Advert description
I have been teaching the violin for three years, and currently teach both children and adults privately and for various organisations. I studied Music at the University of Sheffield where I led the University's Symphony Orchestra, and I have had the privilege of playing with the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. I'm very enthusiastic and thorough in my teaching, and am currently studying a Master's in Music Performance and Education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
I regularly teach privately, as well as for organisations Junior Music School, Pelican Music and Croydon Music and Arts. For these organisations I primarily teach children aged 4-18 on both the violin. Privately, I teach both adult and children learners of mixed abilities.
I aim to strike a balance as much as possible between teaching technical skills and musicality, as of course there cannot be one without the other when learning an instrument. Lessons are a mixture of teaching and demonstrating correct posture, finger patterns or body movements, and teaching and engaging a learner with rhythm, pitch and melody, and then combining them together.
I am a firm believer in tackling one aspect at a time in lessons and gradually combining it with another aspect of playing. I often include activities such as playing a note and asking the student to match my pitch or sound quality, or including musical games that can develop musical memory and rhythm.
