Teaching with compassion and fostering interest

I’m a biology graduate with an interest in all sciences. I’ve been tutoring pupils who have gaps in their understanding due to lockdowns, and teach in a bottom up style. I understand how sciences can quickly become confusing and mysterious, but I build up my pupil’s understanding and foundations until we can demystify any confusing subject. I will often start my lessons with images, diagrams and animations to gain an understanding of the underlying principles at play, and then move onto the academic notation and style of presenting this work. We may end with more visual, less test style content, to reaffirm the bottom to top understanding I stand by for all pupils with a gap or two in their understanding.
