I am a film composer, session guitarist, and music teacher, recently awarded a distinction in a master's in music composition from the University of Southampton. I have 4+ years of experience with 1:1 tuition in the electric guitar, GCSE, and A-level music, as well as music theory and composition.

BIOGRAPHY

Oren’s journey in music began when he first picked up the guitar at the age of 6. His obsession with music grew out of a love for guitarists Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, and Eric Clapton. As a teenager, he developed his playing by performing at live venues and open mic sessions from the age of 14. He has been closely tied with several blues artists since an early age and as a result, regularly participates in large local Blues and Folk festivals.

His exposure to live music and performing has given his rock, funk, blues, and soul playing its own personal and natural style. From these earliest moments in Oren's music career, the foundations of Oren’s playing focus on tone, subtlety, time, and space.

Whilst at Southampton University, Oren diversified and expanded his repertoire towards neo-soul, gospel, and jazz genres. He is now firmly established as a session player, arranger, band leader, and improviser through collaborations with artists across Southampton, London, and Kent.

After completing his bachelor's degree, Oren began his master's in music composition. During this period, he discovered his compositional “voice” through research and experimentation in contemporary classical music and music for film.

Oren rescored a series of contrasting film scenes for his final portfolio. Using a soundscape approach to composition, he developed a characteristic "sound" as a composer during this period through crafting dense and expansive textures and timbres. He achieved this through integrating sound design, live instrumental performance, and orchestral composition. His sounds span from blues-rock, to cinematic, electronic, and minimalist music. Oren prides himself on being musically adaptive and flexible.
