Advert description
I have an honours degree in applied music from the University of the Highlands and Islands where I also studied on the HNC course for a year before my degree.
I have been teaching students from the ages of 8+ since 2017. This is through both weekly lessons and week long intensive courses. I have taught both fiddle and pipe band tenor drumming at these lessons. I have been playing the fiddle since I was 6 and have competed in many competitions as well as being a gigging musician since 2017. On top of this I have taught private students traditional Scottish fiddle music. I was a pipe band tenor drumming tutor at Sgoil Lionacliet on the Isle of Uist for a year, where I was preparing them for competitions and teaching them all of the relevant skills which come with pipe bands. I have also been a part of pipe bands since the age of 11 and have written music for grade 2 Isle of Islay pipe band now for 2 years. Through these years of teaching I have adapted a lot of skills and learnt the importance of good teaching especially in early year students.
I am a hard working and dedicated individual who thrives when working towards a deadline. I have a passion for music and want to enable as many students to reach their full potential. I believe finding students ideal learning environment is crucial in their success for example, figuring out if your student learns best by sight, repetition, hearing etc. Finding these pedagogies will enable students to feel most comfortable and open to learning.
I am a good listener, an organised individual and am committed to giving 100% to my job. I believe I am an inspirational tutor who can help students unlock their full potential. Music is a universal language which can be a brilliant creative output for people and help students express their emotions in a healthy way.
I keep lessons fun with a mix of activities, music, games and ensure the student is always listened to.
