Experienced English teacher offering classes for all levels

I have sixteen years of experience in teaching English. During my career, I have taught students ranging from absolute beginners starting with the very basics to advanced students wishing to further polish their language skills for work, study or immigration. I've taught students from dozens of different nationalities, both abroad and in the UK. I also have a great deal of experience in teaching English for business, and classes designed to prepare people for examinations.

I thrive on discovering what people really need, and aim to leave people that I train with the feeling that they have just learned something really useful which can be applied immediately in their lives. This happens by focusing on the areas that are most relevant, according to each student's individual strengths, weaknesses, background, and needs. For this reason, the language that's introduced in each class will not be taught in isolation, as tiresomely theoretical grammar points or a list of words of dubious value, but in a way that's linked to you personally, and to the purpose of your studies.

I believe that language is best acquired by the struggle to communicate, and so for most people speaking practice and conversations will play a significant part in the lessons. This will give you the opportunity to put new language you've learned into practice, and at the same time will reveal errors that I can help you to correct. I'll encourage you to express things in different ways, and to challenge yourself by using language just slightly higher in level than what you would ordinarily use - thus expanding your range of vocabulary and helping you to see a marked improvement in your language skills.
