Advert description
I hold a PhD Degree in Foreign Languages and Literature and the Celta, Cambridge qualification for teaching English as a second language.
I have a medical and linguistic background, both in Italy and in the U.K.
I have been working as a language tutor during University and for the past 5 years.
In the summer of 2018, I worked as an OET tutor in IELTS Medical schools in London, helping doctors and nurses prepare for the Occupational English test; I continued to do so online for 1.5 years.
In 2018 I also tutored a couple of Chinese children who were 6-7 years of age and needed help with their homework in English.
From 2017 to 2018 I taught basic and advanced/conversational Italian to young professionals and other adults.
My method of teaching languages is based on an approach which is tailored to the student's learning style and goals and focused from the beginning on communication and positive feedback. I believe that everyone can learn a new language to high standards and that often what limits us, especially adults, is a lack of confidence and perfectionism. Therefore, I help my students change their mindset and adopt a new empowering and more functional one that facilitates language learning. Learning a language is a never-ending process, and we are not perfect in our native language either. I aim to help students fall in love with the language and include it in their everyday life. In our first lesson, I propose to the student a feasible and tailored plan, which focuses on realistic achievable goals and exciting daily activities for homework.
I am available for online tutoring, mainly in the evening and at weekend.
I look forward to hearing from you!
