Advert description
I have a Masters degree in Education and is qualified teacher. Over the course of my 25 odd years as a teacher and a Tutor my approach to student education has shifted from an emphasis on my teaching, to a more central focus on student learning. My philosophy of teaching can better be described as a philosophy of learning. As a teacher I love educating students, and one of the key goals that I have set for myself is to be the best educator I can be. There is something extremely rewarding about imparting information to students and working with them to ensure they understand, not only concepts, but skills wherein they can be critical thinkers and independent learners. I believe in the power of questions and questioning strategies to evoke thinking. I constantly try to ask questions for which there are no “right” answers. I constantly work to improve my skills of questioning” for the effective use of questions is the most powerful strategy a teacher has to help students learn.
I am deeply passionate about tutoring and working with young people and know that strong motivation underpins fantastic learning experiences. Great learning, great experience and great support are the driving principles behind my educational beliefs.
I believe that the most effective tutoring methodologies are active and pupil-centred, where students take educational responsibility, are free to make mistakes and are empowered in their own learning, progress and reflection.
Bespoke planning allows for the delivery of challenging lessons that are tailored to meet the exact needs of every student. Im totally committed to ensuring full inclusion and equality with in my sessions.
