Advert description
I am a committed and enthusiastic tutor in English Literature and I am seeking to work with students at GCSE, A-Level, and Undergraduate level.
I have a lifelong passion for the written word. Ever since studying Shakespeare at GCSE level, I fell in love with the subject and pursued English throughout my University career. I also dabble in creative writing, in particular poetry, fiction, and screenplay writing.
I have a BA (Hons), MA, and PhD in English from the University of Oxford.
I tutored Undergraduate students in English during my doctoral studies. The teaching consisted of one to one and small group sessions. I am currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire and have extensive experience of online tutoring in both one to one and small group settings.
I am also a certified practitioner of coaching and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, enabling me to offer additional support for students who may need help with increasing their confidence, overcoming self-limiting beliefs, and managing their mental health.
My knowledge of the curricula and examination expectations is up to date and I can help students with their set texts, exam preparation, and essay writing/coursework.
My approach is student-focussed, paying strict attention to their specific needs and goals. I believe in conducting myself with integrity, professionalism, and equitability at all times.
Initially, I consult with each student on what their learning needs and objectives are, and then strategically design a lesson/tutorial plan to meet those needs and objectives.
Qualifications include:
BA (Hons), English Language and Literature, University of Oxford, First Class (2003)
MA, Film Studies, University of Central Lancashire, with Distinction (2004)
MA, English Language and Literature, University of Oxford, First Class (2008)
D.Phil, English Literature, University of Oxford (2010)
I look forward to working with you.
