My lessons are catered to the students so the way I tutor depends on the best way the student learns. For example, if a student is a visual learner I'll incorporate more diagrams and mind maps into the lesson. I usually start off with an initial assessment just so I can see what the students strengths and weaknesses are and then go from that. I always make sure I set aside time for exam practice every lesson even if it's a few questions but I have also noticed that students perform better when they learn with exam questions so I have some lessons where the entire lesson is going through a past paper and the student writing down all the points they didn't know. I also take regular progress checks to make sure that they are making some progress and if they aren't then I can understand why they aren't making progress and change things up to support them further. Again, all of this depends on the student's needs, whatever works best for them.
