Newton's Laws of Motion simplified. Lets understand with examples.

Lets understand Newton's Laws of Motion

Newton's Laws of motion are there in the form of three basic laws. It tells us the how the forces acting on an object is related to the motion of an object or vice versa.

The Three Newtons laws of Motion are:

1) Newton's First Law of Motion: An object continues to be in state of rest or in uniform linear motion until and unless it is disturbed by an unbalanced external force.

Newton's First Law of Motion also known as Law of Inertia. As it deals with inertia of a body. ( Inertia is the tendency of a body to maintain its state of rest or uniform motion )

Example of Newton's First Law is when the branch of a mango tree is shaken then mango falls as mango were at rest earlier so they want to be at rest but the branch moves, as a result mango gets detached.

2)Newton's Second Law of Motion: The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the applied force and the change in the body takes place in the direction of the applied force. It is expressed as F=ma ( where F is the force, m= mass of the body , a = acceleration )

Basically it says that if there is change in momentum of body ( momentum is the product of mass and velocity)  then there is a force acting behind it and if there is a force acting on a body then  momentum of the body will change. Change in momentum takes place due to change in the velocity of an object which will be consuming some time. If lesser time is consumed more force will be generated and if more time is consumed lesser amount of force is generated.

Example of Newton's Second law: When a cricket player catches a cricket ball he pulls his hands backward to increase the time during which momentum changes to zero. As a result lesser amount of force is produced and fielder hands remains harmless.

3) Newton's Third Law of Motion: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction and it acts on two different bodies.

Example of Newton's Third law of motion:  If you hit a wall with a force of 5 Newton then your hands will get injured as wall also applies a force of 5 Newton (as a reaction ) on your hands.
