Everyday strategies for learning Spanish

As an experienced Spanish tutor, and having learned English myself, I have gathered many tips for accelerating language learning and making the process more enjoyable. Read on to find out what these are.

Find your perfect tutor

Listen to music in Spanish

Did you know that listening to music in Spanish when you are learning the language increases your chances of learning and remembering vocabulary?

Well yes! The rhythm and melody of the songs makes vocabulary more memorable. In my case, I can assure you that this method works as music was a fundamental tool for learning English during my adolescence.

Find what kind of music you feel most comfortable with and listen to the tracks accompanied by the lyrics, underline the words you don't know and look up their individual meaning after listening to the song.

Find podcasts in Spanish

As well as music, podcasts can be a great way of incorporating Spanish listening into your daily routine. You can find many short podcasts on Spotify on channels such as Duolingo Spanish Podcast or Coffee Break Spanish.

Watch series and films in Spanish

Now, as part of my daily study, I put on films or series with subtitles so that I can listen and read at the same time. It´s a great way to help with vocabulary and picking up idiomatic phrases in the language.

You can find many films and series in Spanish on the likes of Netflix or Disney+. If you´re a beginner, you could ever start with animations in Spanish to learn simpler vocabulary. For more advanced Spanish learners, some popular series include La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) and Las Chicas del Cable (Cable Girls).

Surely these tips will help you in your Spanish learning!
