How I became an online tutor and teacher

My name is Nadia Niemand and I live in South Africa. I am currently 30 years old and working in a Histopathological Laboratory. This was my dream job and my ultimate goal. Or, so I thought.

In 2020, we all know what happened. The Pandemic. Corona Virus. It was chaos. A lot of people lost their income, jobs, schools were closed and a lot of life altering changes occurred in that year.

I suppose this is what made me realise, not everything is permanent in life. Perhaps, we need a slight wake up call like a pandemic to make us realise that what we are currently doing isn't exactly the life we want for ourselves.

I decided to start teaching online as an extra means for income, since my partner sadly lost his income. We were all stressed and anxious about what the future will hold. But, my, oh my, I didn't think that this whole experience would change my life and career as much as it has so far.

I fell in love with this part time hustle. So much, that I am currently studying to become an official Life Sciences and Natural Sciences teacher. With my laboratory experience and student training experience, it feels natural to become an official teacher. This oportunity has made me become happier and more confident working with students from all over the world. Teaching English, Science and Maths to children and adults.

They say it is never too late to try something new and to experiment. I believe we need to do what makes us all happy and perhaps, change is exactly what we need.
