IGCSE, A-Level, Pre U Spanish lessons

hold a BEd Honours degree in Modern Languages (First), a postgraduate degree in Applied Linguistics (First) and an MA in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum Design (First). As a language teacher, I have worked in top independent schools in Oxfordshire, such as St Edward’s School, SHSK and Headington and Radley College. I have a proven excellent record teaching the IB as well as a Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 and have successfully enabled my students to transition between levels and achieve the highest results in their exams.

This is my 8th year as an IB examiner (my second year as a Team Leader), and I am also an IGCSE and GCSE and A-Level examiner with Cambridge Assessment, Eduqas/WEJC and Edexcel. These roles coupled with my teaching experience as a classroom teacher not only have given me a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum for Languages, but have also enabled me to develop an ability to accurately assess students’ progress and design strategies to help them overcome their difficulties. My experience as a Spanish Literature examiner has helped me develop a deeper and more comprehensive insight into the literary texts and films and allowed me to create imaginative and more efficient ways of teaching it. These roles have given me invaluable insight into preparing students for top level exam performance.

I empower students to reach their full potential. Over the years, I have had tremendous success in enabling my students to improve their language performance. They have regularly commented that I am able to convey complex Spanish grammar concepts clearly and simply. I have had the privilege of seeing hundreds of students over my teaching career become more confident, going beyond their comfort zone and becoming self-reflective people who make the right choices and who eventually accomplish their goals. This takes a lot of praising (and patience!), setting achievable goals and gradually raising the standard. It also takes an enormous sense of commitment and faithfulness to the calling of being a teacher.
