Experienced English tutor for GCSE, A Level and CELTA qualified to teach ESOL from beginners and intermediate to advanced

Even after over 30 yrs of teaching English, I continue to find deep joy in it! As I tutor I offer bespoke lessons tailored to the individual needs of my students. I offer up-to-date, interesting and accessible lessons using my own resources as well as media and examination papers.

I try to use current news events, film, music and literature to make my lessons engaging. To improve speaking skills, I encourage debating controversial issues that might challenge individuals’ use of persuasive language techniques.

My style of teaching is clear and instructive but has a practical and clear focus on the outcome desired. The lessons will include a variety of activities tailored to whatever areas the student wishes to address; beit basic conversational English ( EFL) or GCSE/A level.


Students respond well to my clear, calm voice and my warm and friendly voice. ESOL students have found my clear British accent easy to understand and this aids their own listening and pronunciation.

Most of my students exceed all expectations and not only improve their English reading , speaking and writing skills , but also gain a self confidence that is invaluable.
