I gained a 2:1 in Modern History from St.Anne's college, Oxford University, and then passed level 2 of the International Japanese Proficiency Test after studying for one year at Daiichi Keizai University, Fukuoka. I have been tutoring for four years and have worked as a primary school Teaching Assistant for five years in a number of UK schools including a National Autistic Society school. For the past year I have been mostly teaching English as a foreign language and have taught students from Japan, China, South Korea, Turkey and Taiwan. I love tutoring both History and English at primary, GCSE and A-level stages and enjoy tailoring the lessons to challenge students to learn new and interesting things and also work on things like vocabulary and expression to make sure that essays and written answers are more interesting, diverse, well argued and persuasive. I use a range of different website resources to test knowledge and augment what is currently known about as a way of improving the level of the student and their ability to argue persuasively in the English language. In my spare time I am learning four languages - Japanese and French (which I am better at) and then German and Portuguese (at which I am only at a very basic level) and also read a lot of history and novels to increase my knowledge and awareness of the fields that I teach and also keep up with the vicissitudes of the curriculum where things are always in a process of flux and change.
